We’ve all been there…and moving is hard. There are so many factors and questions involved that it can feel overwhelming. But that shouldn’t stop you from living exactly where you want to. More and more people are making Evergreen into their home…so how hard is the transition? And is Evergreen really everything people say it is? Let’s get the inside scoop on Evergreen from some newcomers-turned-locals, Stephanie and Charles!
1. What made you want to live in Evergreen?
We wanted to be within commuting distance to a major city with a major airport, but not live in the city. Evergreen is the epitome of small-town mountain living, offering big-city access. We love raising our children here!
2. Where did you move from?
The panhandle of Florida
3. What was the hardest part of adjusting to Evergreen life?
As a Navy family, we didn’t find Evergreen to be any more challenging than anywhere else we’ve moved to. And we’ve moved 7 times in 15 years! The people here are so friendly and easy to talk to. We found it to be a very smooth transition.
4. What has been the best surprise living in Evergreen?
The sense of community despite having larger property sizes and being further away from your neighbor. We are also super impressed with the snow-clearing actions in Evergreen… they are on it!
5. How long did it take you to find a place to live?
We were watching the real estate opportunities for a couple of years from out of state. We took a “house-hunting” trip and viewed 11 properties and made an offer a few days later! We were lucky, as real estate can be very competitive in this well-sought-after mountain town!
6. How long do you plan on staying?
We would love for this to be our forever home!
7. How has your experience living in Evergreen differed from other places you have lived?
So many community offerings, rec centers, outdoor activities, wildlife, low property taxes, friendly people, and excellent schools. Evergreen, CO beats the pants off Florida!
8. What do you love most about Evergreen?
This community of amazing people and wildlife! Hands down, we have the best with the most wide assortment of outdoor activities and community gatherings!
9. What are your favorite places to eat and drink?
We love Bistro Del Lago for incredible Italian, The Lazy Butcher for the best BBQ, meats, and gourmet foods, Moonga Sushi Grill and Ramen, and the classy Evoke 1923!
10. Any other local tips to share?
We love all the rec centers in the area and the indoor community pools. There’s always something going on from festivals and sports lessons, to parents’ night out and fitness classes.
11. Summer or winter?
BOTH! Summer is filled with adventure: camping, hiking, paddle boarding, tubing, canoeing, cookouts, grilling, sunsets, cool evenings and warm days, rushing creeks and rivers, outdoor Evergreen festivals and famers markets, baby animals, and more!
Winter is amazing, with the lightest and fluffiest snow! We enjoy skiing at the worlds top resorts within minutes of Evergreen, tubing, sledding, ice-fishing, ice skating, snowshoeing, warm fires in the fireplace, hearty soups and stews, beautiful white frosted trees, and the silence that comes with fresh snow-fall!
We honestly can’t decide which season we love the most!
