We’ve all been there…and moving is hard. There are so many factors and questions involved that it can feel overwhelming. But that shouldn’t stop you from living exactly where you want to. More and more people are making Evergreen their home. So how hard is the transition…and is it worth it? Let’s get the inside scoop on Evergreen from some folks who have lived everywhere from Hawaii to New York…and still prefer Evergreen: Stephanie and Tim.
1. What made you want to live in Evergreen?
We discovered it by coming here from Denver for hiking and immediately fell in love with the quaint and adorable mountain town it is. The lake makes it so special and the community is great. After just coming a couple times, we knew it was the perfect place to raise a family.
2. Where did you move from?
I am from Hawaii and my husband is from Michigan. However, we moved to Colorado from living in NYC for 6 years, and lived in Denver for a year looking for houses in the front range area.
3. What was the hardest part adjusting to Evergreen life?
I would say the altitude, just took some getting used to at first. Now that we are acclimated, it’s not a problem.
4. What has been the best surprise living in Evergreen?
The community. So many young parents and families. I didn’t expect there to be so many and it’s been such a blessing. Also the elk should get a shout out. The only traffic jam I don’t mind!
5. How long did it take you to find a place to live?
It took us about 6 months of looking before we found our house.
6. How long do you plan on staying?
Indefinitely! We love Evergreen.
7. How has your experience living in Evergreen differed from other places you have lived?
Out of everywhere we have lived, evergreen is the perfect place where you have the privilege of living in gorgeous nature and the countryside, while also having the benefits of a major city just 30 min away. We seem so secluded, yet we can easily go to any pro sports event, Broadway plays, Michelin Star restaurants, and world class museums! It really is the best of both worlds
8. What do you love most about Evergreen?
The nature and the community. We have made the best friends and we are so grateful to raise our boys in such a beautiful place with so much to do.
9. What are your favorite places to eat and drink?
Murphy’s, Revival, Evoke, Willow Creek
10. Any other local tips to share?
So many hidden gem hikes and river spots that are perfect for all ages!
11. Summer or winter?
Both!! We love it here year round!
12. Is Evergreen a good place to raise a family?
AMAZING place. Our kids are very lucky to grow up here and I hope they appreciate it someday.
