It’s Rodeo Time!

Gladiators, ASSEMBLE!

This is a big year; Evergreen is turning 150, and turning 150 is a big deal. So this year, the Evergreen Rodeo is going all out!

(And has everyone seen those new bleachers on the rodeo grounds, thanks to the Bandimere family?!)

The Evergreen Rodeo has been around since the 60s…celebrating that great tradition that is the American Cowboy…and let’s not forget everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure: muttin bustin (ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!).

Sure, there are plenty of plenty of rodeos out there, but (and I may be a little biased) ours is by far the best. This isn’t some impersonal, commercialized spectacle, but a home-grown, family tradition. I mean, come on…what is sweeter than seeing a crowd of kids perched on their fathers’ shoulders trying to get their very first look at a real-life bull rider? Holding the rodeo Father’s Day weekend is no coincidence; this weekend is all about family, community, and epitomizes the perfect American celebration. Muttin bustin, the parade, a Friday kickoff party, the world’s largest stick horse race, and TWO PRCA rodeos…we have it all.

The entire town of Evergreen gets swept away with rodeo fever this magical summer weekend. I never thought I would live in a community capable of putting on something so cool…that’s why I joined the Evergreen Rodeo Association last year. And can I say the people in charge of this rodeo are the hardest working, kindest, salt-of-the-earth neighbors I have ever had. If Chuck Norris and John Wayne had a baby, that baby would be in the Evergreen Rodeo Association. They have worked all year planning every little detail to create a weekend of western magic for y’all, so I had to give them a shout out. They say bareback bronc riding is the hardest event in rodeo…but I think it’s the planning.

So…you better cancel that camping trip Father’s Day weekend, because you do NOT want to miss this. And don’t you fret: we have extra popcorn vendors and record number of bartenders this year!

NOTE: Muttin Bustin will be held before and after each rodeo, so get there early!

We who are about to die, salute you!
I'm here for the snacks...
